Trauma-Informed Mindfulness: Becoming Conscious of Our Inner Voice

Looking for help with meditation because of monkey mind? How about ways to accept rather than fight negative thoughts that prevent you from a more joyous life? Are you looking to manage self-criticism, judging others, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, anger, etc.? Then, this workshop may be the right resource for you! Jennifer will assist you in settling into your body and establishing a better practice for befriending your mind overall and for formal meditation.

This workshop is geared toward laypeople, students, teachers, and practitioners of different disciplines. Attendees will learn methods to reduce stress and the effects of various traumas (physical, relational, transgenerational, etc.). The techniques covered will be: various somatic and polyvagal principles in yoga, pranayama, and meditation; mindful languaging with a growth mindset; nonviolent communication; and yoga philosophy. A simple discussion and practices of the polyvagal system will also be covered.  RYT-500 continuing education credits available.

 

Bring a beginner's mind and curiosity along for a gentle ride toward self-healing. We will have lots of spaciousness in the practice so that you can integrate and embody what you are learning right away. Jennifer looks forward to sharing this knowledge and being in connection with you.

Hatha Yoga Classes (Ongoing)

**Studio-based, Zoom, and Outdoor Classes**

Jennifer teaches Himalayan-style hatha yoga mixed with other styles and energy systems on Zoom. She also teaches around the suburbs with some outdoor classes (weather permitting).

Jennifer is also looking for a nature-based indoor/outdoor setting to teach classes.

specific Mondays 7-8:15pm (ongoing) April 3, 17, and 24; May dates coming soon

$25 per month payment (Zelle, credit card)

Taking even 2 classes in a month is similar to a more generously priced studio rate ($15)

Or we have the option of trying out a class for a $12 drop in payment.

(2) Hatha Yoga Classes Around the Suburbs

No Outdoor Classes Currently Scheduled

Hatha Yoga Description: Set in a naturally lit room or the outdoors for the day time sessions or a comfortable yet dimly lit room for the evening sessions. This is a multi-level class based on the Himalayan-style of hatha yoga, which is more meditative, with some intermingling of other styles of yoga (e.g., short vinyasa/Viniyoga, alignment, restorative) and bodywork. With a meditative focus, enjoy the benefits of deep breathing while holding most poses for a few breaths. This type of yoga allows for full stretching while stimulating the mind-body connection and different glandular (chakra/energy) centers of the body. Wear comfortable clothing and supply your own yoga mat, and if desired, any props you may want to use (e.g., straps, shawl/blanket/towel, blocks, meditation cushion). Limited blocks, straps, and blankets are available to use at the Elgin location when during a counseling session or we can utilize a shared conference for group classes when space is available.


Upon request, Phoenix Rising Solutions c​an develop the following yoga programs for you:

     •  corporate and educational settings for hatha yoga, meditation/mindfulness, relaxation 

         techniques, and overall wellness classes or workshops to enhance employee well-being 

         and productivity--see our list of previous workshops below presented over the last decade

     •  individual or small group yoga or meditation sessions for couple's or family experience, to 

        obtain foundations of yoga, for a restorative time set aside to really unwind from a stressful

        day or work environment, etc. (purchased as a 4-session package)

     •  workshops for civic functions and community (fundraising events, girl scouts, schools, etc.)
     •  yoga parties (bridal shower, baby shower, etc.)
     •  counseling-yoga combination of services
